Google has been strategically expanding Gemini’s capabilities by integrating new extensions. Following the successful addition of extensions for Google apps like Keep, Tasks, and Calendar, as well as YouTube and YouTube Music, recent indications point toward even more groundbreaking features being developed.

As found in the latest APK teardown, the tech giant is adding WhatsApp, Messages, and Android system notification extensions for Gemini.

According to Android Authority, the latest Google App beta version 15.34.32.29.arm64 includes new extensions for Gemini, specifically for WhatsApp, Messages, and Android system notifications. These extensions can be activated from the Google app if users have the latest beta installed, but currently, they are not functioning as intended.

The ‘WhatsApp’ extension will allow you to send messages and make calls through Gemini to your contacts within the app. The ‘Messages’ extension lets you read incoming texts aloud and send them.

The last extension is for ‘Android system notifications’, which enables you to send or read Android system notifications. This could potentially allow you to ask Gemini to summarise messages or notifications, similar to how it summarises YouTube videos, according to the report.

However, it’s unclear when these features will pop up in a working state.

Meanwhile, Google has brought ‘1.5 Flash’ to its AI chatbot Gemini in more than 40 languages and over 230 countries and territories for users to get faster and smarter responses.
