Microsoft has introduced a new category of Windows PCs called “Copilot+ PCs”, designed for artificial intelligence (AI).
The new Copilot+ PCs are now available for pre-order from the biggest brands such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo and Samsung, with availability starting June 18. The new PCs will be available at a starting price of $999.
“Copilot+ PCs are the fastest, most intelligent Windows PCs ever built,” Microsoft said in a blogpost on Monday.
“Easily find and remember what you have seen in your PC with Recall, generate and refine AI images in near real-time directly on the device using Cocreator, and bridge language barriers with Live Captions, translating audio from over 40 languages into English,” it added.
According to the company, Copilot+ PCs can achieve a level of performance never seen before. They are up to 20 times more powerful and up to 100 times as efficient for running AI workloads and deliver industry-leading AI acceleration.
“They outperform Apple’s MacBook Air 15-inch by up to 58 per cent in sustained multithreaded performance, all while delivering all-day battery life,” the company said.
Moreover, the tech giant mentioned that Copilot+ PCs can deliver up to 22 hours of local video playback or 15 hours of web browsing on a single charge, which is up to 20 per cent more battery in local video playback than the MacBook Air 15-inch.
Further, the company pointed out that every Copilot+ PC comes secured out of the box. The Microsoft Pluton Security processor will be enabled by default on all Copilot+ PCs and the tech giant has also introduced a number of new features, updates and defaults to Windows 11 that will make it easy for users to stay secure.
In addition, Microsoft said that it has built in personalised privacy controls to help users protect what’s important to them.
