“Got rear-ended by a car while we were at a standstill in traffic, on the I-5 yesterday. The car behind was probably a total loss. (We are perfectly safe),” Dhankar wrote.
“Apple Watch detected that we were in a crash and auto-called 911 and there was an officer on the scene within minutes. We were able to leave in 30 minutes and got to our destination safely,” he added.
The founder further mentioned that he was “impressed by Apple Watch and California highway patrol”.
Dhankar, in his post, also shared an image showing the crashed vehicle on the highway, with a police officer present at the scene.
Responding to a user in the comment section, he mentioned that they were in a Ford expedition. “It shrugged the impact off. We checked in with the other party. Got them water etc and once the officer cleared us, resumed our journey”.
Earlier this year, a Delhi-based woman credited her Apple Watch for saving her life after the device’s heart rate notification feature detected her abnormally high heart rate and alerted her.
As per reports, the timely notification allowed the 35-year-old policy researcher, Sneha Sinha, to seek medical attention and avoid a potentially dangerous situation.
