As recent debate on work-life balance due to deliberation on 14-hour work day & 70-hour workweek have stirred conversations among Gen Z, about 43 per cent of Indian Gen Zs and 46 per cent globally said that they are willing to give up work-life balance to succeed in their career, a new report revealed on Thursday.
According to The Quest Report 2024 by the smartphone brands IQOO with CyberMedia Research (CMR), 1 out of 4 Indians are more inclined towards new-age job fields, such as content creation, data analysis, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity.
The report, which surveyed 6,700 Gen Zs in 7 countries, including India highlighted that 62 per cent of the Indian youth willing to give up their hobbies and other interests to achieve their dreams.
“CMR’s research done for The Global Quest Report, commissioned by iQOO, explores the perspectives of a brave new generation of youth across Asia, Europe, North America, and South America, providing invaluable insights into their mindset and their quests. The high levels of clarity and focus on big dreams along with a hustler mindset underscore the state of today’s youth in India,” said Prabhu Ram, Vice President– Industry Research Group, CMR.
Moreover, the report showed that only 9 per cent of Indian Gen Zs wanted to pursue entrepreneurship as they seek stability and security in work life.
About 19 per cent preferred career advancements in big organisations instead of startups.
Around 46 per cent feel financial constraints as a barrier to pursue their choice of career. However, over 90 per cent were confident in achieving their dream despite the obstacles, the report mentioned.
