Google-owned YouTube has announced a new artificial intelligence (AI) assistant feature that will assist creators restore accounts that have been targeted by hackers.

According to Google’s support page, the chatbot can be accessed through YouTube’s Help Center and should guide hacked creators through the process of securing their impacted Google logins as well as reversing any changes they have made to their YouTube channels by asking them a series of questions.

“The new support assistant will guide impacted creators through re-securing their login and helping them recover their account as the very first step after it’s been hacked,” Google said.

“Eligible creators will see the option to troubleshoot a hacked channel in the YouTube Help Center. This tool will guide you through a series of questions about you and your channel to first secure your Google login and to undo any changes the hacker has made to your channel,” it added.

As of now, the support assistant is only available in English and access to “certain troubleshooting features” is only available to a select group of “certain creators”. However, the tech giant mentioned that it plans to eventually provide the feature to all YouTube creators.

“For now, this new tool is only available in English (when accessing the Help Center in English) and certain troubleshooting features within the tool are only available for certain creators. However, we are working to make this available to all creators in the future,” said Google.

Meanwhile, Google has brought the AI Overviews feature in English and Hindi to India. The feature utilises generative AI to synthesize data from diverse sources and present it in an easily understandable format, enabling users to swiftly grasp complex subjects, explore different perspectives, and delve deeper into areas of interest.
