Sam Altman-run OpenAI has rolled out the ability for its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT free users to generate up to two images per day with its DALL-E 3 model.

DALL-E 3 was initially available only to users who paid for ChatGPT Plus when the company launched it in September.

“We’re rolling out the ability for ChatGPT Free users to create up to two images per day with DALL-E 3,” OpenAI wrote in a post on X.

“Just ask ChatGPT to create an image for a slide deck, personalise a card for a friend, or show you what something looks like,” it added.

Meanwhile, OpenAI has started testing SearchGPT, a prototype of new search features designed to combine the strength of the company’s AI models with information from the web to give users fast and timely answers with clear and relevant sources.

The company launched the prototype to a small group of users and publishers to get feedback. It also mentioned that the company plans to integrate the best of these features directly into ChatGPT in the future.

“SearchGPT will quickly and directly respond to your questions with up-to-date information from the web while giving you clear links to relevant sources,” the company had said in a blogpost.

Users will also be able to ask follow-up questions, like they would in a conversation with a person, with the shared context building with each query, OpenAI explained.
