Tech giant Apple has released the latest developer betas for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1, and added more artificial intelligence (AI) features. The company has introduced a feature called “Clean Up” that will give you the ability to remove objects from photos.
This feature will allow you to remove distracting objects from the background of a photo while leaving the subject of the image intact.
The feature in the Photos app automatically detects undesired objects in images, but users can also remove them manually by tapping, circle, or brushing over them.
As Apple describes it, the feature generates the background when you remove objects from images. According to the company, the system even understands shadows and reflections of objects and removes them when filling in the background.
The Clean Up feature applies to all images in the Photos collection, including older ones and those acquired by other devices such as a point & shoot camera or DSLR.
This feature is presently available to US users with iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models, M1-powered iPad and Macs, or newer.
The iOS 18.1 beta 3 update also includes other Apple Intelligence enhancements. Previously available only in Messages and Mail, notification summaries now cover all apps, giving users an overview of everything they have to do.
The tech giant is likely to launch iOS 18 in September, coinciding with the release of the iPhone 16 lineup.
Earlier this year, Google launched a similar feature called ‘Magic Eraser’ for Google Photos for free.
